CURRENT ISSUE:
POTENTIAL COAL-POWERED ENERGY PLANT AT TYRONE
ABOUT 50 concerned citizens gathered at the Eau Claire Public Library on January 9th, 2006 to learn about a potential coal plant siting at the Tyrone location. Jennifer Feyerherm of the Sierra Club addressed the group, speaking about the current "Midwest Coal Rush" which is spawning so many projects and raising concerns about our environment, our health, and the health of our grandchildren. Jennifer's remarks were followed by a discussion among all those present, which included folks from Pierce, Eau Claire, Pepin, Trempealeau, Chippewa, LaCrosse and Dunn Counties. After identifying important working concerns, the large group divided into smaller sub-committees, who then met and planned for about 45 minutes.
The large group, comprising all the sub-committees and any other interested people, will meet

CURRENT ISSUE: SEVEN-MILE LAND FILL EXPANSION
It has been awhile since we held the informational meeting at the Seymour Town Hall. Since that time I have met many people and we have been meeting to share ideas about the "Mega Landfill" issue, and what we can do about this "growing problem". We are starting to band together making this a "State Issue" instead of trying to handle each area on a local basis. There is "Strength in Numbers," and it is beginning to show..... If you'd like more information, call 832-1973 or send an email to Gerrie.
