TV NOTION -

NEWS FOR THE CHIPPEWA VALLEY

Northern Thunder and the Chippewa Valley Community Action Coalition air a monthly one-hour news program on the local public-access TV station. Volunteer produced, TV Notion goes behind the scenes to discuss those stories that are ignored or under-reported by the mainstream local media. New programs air the second Friday of every month at 7 pm and are replayed at various other times during the month on PAC 11, the Eau Claire cable system's public access channel.

TV Notion first appeared on the airwaves in January of 1997 with reports on mining and its impacts, global climate change, and urban sprawl. In the years since, TV Notion has continued to report on environmental stories, and has also covered numerous social issues in the region.  A community calendar of events, book reviews, and some in-studio music are also regular parts of the show.

Because volunteers generate TV Notion, its producers are very interested in attracting new and enthusiastic help.  We specifically need individuals with story ideas who want to help produce them, more program editors, and people who want to operate video cameras.  Skill level is not important; the Public Access Center offers classes on camera operation and program editing.

If you are interested in helping out, call Michelle at 834-4837, Marty at 832-0527, or Kate at 836-2761.    You can also send an email to TV Notion.
