Northern
Thunder's
Mission Statement
|
We
believe . . .
- we must examine
as well as act on our beliefs and knowledge.
- we come together
as a group to share and grow as individuals, and to provide support for one
another.
- we can, individually
and as a group, provide leadership and action to effect change at the community
level.
- we need to
act out of an ecological consciousness, not merely react to "crises."
- we cannot do
everything, but we must do something.
We
act . . .
- by providing
community service;
- by organizing
an annual Chippewa Valley River Clean-Up;
- by participating
in the "Adopt a Highway" Program (Hwy 12 west of the I-94 Interchange
at Exit 52);
- by keeping
current on issues and legislation, attending local/statewide public meetings
and hearings, lobbying, and writing letters;
- by serving
as citizen members of local boards that are responsible for long-term planning,
development, and policies for the management & use of natural resources;
- by acting as
a resource center via our office at 316 Eau Claire Street;
- by publishing
a newsletter, Hard Rain;
- by establishing
working groups to address specific community activities and events
- by working
in coalition with other local and state activist groups;
